the Scholarship Details
The Indian council of Medical research
(ICMR) is collaborating with PGIMER, Chandigarh to hold the national level
examination for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in the fields of Life
Science/Social Science stream on 13th July, 2014. The centre of the
examination is at twelve centres in India namely Bhubaneshwar, Chennai,
Chandigarh, Bangalore, Bhopal, Delhi, Guwahati, Sri Nagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata,
Mumbai and Varanasi.
Eligibility
Criteria or Educational qualification for the research position at ICMR
The eligibility criteria for the above
scholarship are given below as follows.
1.
The candidate should be M.Sc/M.A
or equivalent degree with a minimum percentage of 55 marks for General/OBC
candidates.
2.
The candidates appearing for
the final year of M.Sc/M.A in the current year 2014-15 can also apply for the
above scholarship.
3.
The M.Sc/M.A degree certificate
should be submitted before the last date of 30th September, 2014.
4.
The age limit for the candidates
to apply as on 30th September, is 28 years. The upper age limit is
relaxed by 5 years for the candidates who are SC/ST, physically handicapped,
female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC applicants.
Number
of Fellowships
The total number of scholarships being
awarded is around 150. The fellowships awarded are segregated into two
categories.
120 fellowships are provided to the group
of Life Science field to take up research on the following categories of Human
Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Immunology, Pharmacology, Physiology,
Biophysics, Zoology, Botany, Bioinformatics, Veterinary Sciences and Molecular
Biology etc.
30 scholarships are provided to the group
of social sciences like Psychology, Home sciences, Sociology, statistics
anthropology, health economics and social work.
There will be another list of 100
candidates who would be selected for the positions of JRF under various
research schemes of ICMR. The candidates will be subject to the terms and
conditions for the appointment under the various scholarship schemes. The
scholarship selected candidates will be notified through post or through email
by the first week of September, 2014.
How
to apply
The candidate can download the application
form/Challan form from the PGIMER website http://pgimer.edu.in and ICMR
New Delhi website http://icmr.nic.in respectively
only. The completed application form is to be sent through the speed
post/registered post to the Registrar, PGI, Chandigarh on or before the last
date of 30th April, 2014.
Three copies of the challan will be available once the candidate deposits
the fee amount with the state bank of India. The State bank of India will
retain one copy with itself. The other copy will be sent to the PGI, and the
third remains with the candidate.
Important
dates for JRF
The last date of the application is 30th
April, 2014. For the remote areas, the application’s last date of application
is 5th May, 2014.
The date of the entrance examination is on
13th July, 2014.
