Kerala Forest Research Institute Research Fellowship

The Kerala forest research institute is a leading research institute with multidisciplinary team of experts performing research on various topics and research themes on the tropical forestry and forests. Over the past few decades, this research institute has contributed so much with significant efforts to the research on tropical forests and biodiversity conservation. The forest research institute has been founded in 1975 and since then, it has been a journey worth to know.

The research institute is envisioned as a centre of excellence providing scientific support to the projects and particular emphasis on conservation, scientific management of natural resources and sustainable utilisation. It offers a lot of opportunities to the young researchers and the scholars to perform research on tropical forests and forestry.

The KFRI became an integral part of the Kerala State Council for Science, technology and environment (KSCSTE) along with other five R&D institutes who have also collaborated with KSCSTE. This was founded in 2002.  

The Kerala forest research institute is inviting applications from the scholars/students for the research fellowship in a time-bound research project/programme to fill the position mentioned for the research fellow for the 2014 intake.

Scholarship details

The research fellowship position is available for a time-bound project ‘Control and management of destructive forest invasive species in South Asian natural plantation forests’.   

Duration of the scholarship

The duration of the project is for one or one half years. The project is likely to stay till 31^st December, 2015.

Desirable qualification

Thee desirable qualification for the candidate should possess experience in forestry, forest sector, and sufficient knowledge in computers.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the above mentioned scholarship is given below.

1.       The candidate should possess M.Sc in Botany. The candidates are required to understand the basic functioning of the natural resources and plantation forestry.

2.       The age of the candidate should not be more than 30 years. The age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC will be according to the rules and regulations of the forest research institute.

Scholarship Amount

The amount of the scholarship is Rupees 11,000 per month plus 10 percentage HRA (House rent Allowance). 

Number of Scholarships

The scholarships given to the above mentioned fellowship is two. The two scholarships will be provided the scholarship amount mentioned above.
