JNCASR-CICS Fellowship Programme for Scientists from Developing Countries in India

The Jawaharlal Nehru centre for advanced scientific research (JNCASR-CICS) is offering fellowship programme for outstanding scientists, teachers and researchers from developing countries like India. The fellowship covers the many short term research programmes and participatory research programmes in most of the major disciplines such as engineering and medicine at the Indian centres of excellence. Every year, 10 fellowships are on offer from JNCASR. The duration of the fellowship is about three months.    

The fellowship is a joint venture by Jawaharlal Nehru centre for advanced scientific research, Bangalore and the centre for International cooperation in science (CICS), Chennai to encourage mobility of scientists in various developing countries.   

Study subjects

The fellowship covers the all the research studies including major areas of research such as medicine and engineering at the Indian centres of Excellence. The fellowship is provided to give out opportunities to the young talent and scientists to do research on many of the major disciplines such as engineering and medicinal studies. 
   
Scholarship Provider

The scholarship is provided to the interested scientists by the Jawaharlal Nehru centre for advanced scientific research. The scholarship can only be taken at the centre, India.  

Eligibility criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the following eligibility criteria to fulfil the requirements of the fellowship. 

1.       The applicant must have a Master’s degree in science or doctorate degree in major fields such as medicine and engineering sciences and all other allied subjects.
2.       The candidate should be of below the age of 45 years and be affiliated to a university or academic institutions in a developing country (other than India)
3.        The applicant should be a scientist, research scholar or a teacher working for an academic institution or a scientific institution in a developing country in any of the following regions namely Asia (other than India), Africa, Latin America and Arab region. 

 Scholarship Open for International students

 The scientists from Asia (other than India), Africa, Latin America and Arab region are open for the eligibility for the fellowship. 

Number of awards

Every year around 10 fellowships are provided to the scientists and young talented research scholars.    
Duration of awards

The duration for the fellowship is for three months. 

Scholarship amount 

The fellowship helps to cover the airfare from their home country to India, expenses towards boarding and lodging at the affiliated institutions and universities, and expenses towards the day to day living.

The applicant should submit the completed application form along with the following list of enclosures. 

1.       Curriculum vitae with applicant’s interested area of research
2.       Write up on the proposed area of research
3.       Two passport sixe photographs
4.       A letter of consent from the parent institution.
5.       Copies of degree certificates

Cargill Global Scholars Program

Scholarship details
 
The Cargill global scholars program is a program which provides financial support to the inmates of the scholarship. Not just that, it offers much more than said. It provides the students with leadership development opportunities with the help of seminars, one-on-one mentoring program and networking events. These enrichment activities are designed to help the students with Cargill global leadership potential and critical thinking equipping their tools with becoming global leaders and decision makers.

Scholarship Provider

The scholarship is being provided by the Institute of International Education on behalf of Cargill. The Cargill is an international producer and marketer of food, financial, agricultural and industrial products and services.  The IIE is one of the most experienced not-for-profit organisations working in the field of scholarship programs and international education.  

Eligibility criteria

The Cargill scholar must satisfy the below eligibility criteria to avail the above mentioned scholarship. 

1.       The candidate must be a citizen of or permanent legal resident of China, India, Brazil, Russia and the United states.
2.       The candidate should demonstrate high academic performance.
3.       The candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and potential.
4.       The candidate should be a first or second year university student.
5.       The candidate should attend a partner university in the citizenship country or country of permanent residency.

Cargill gives preference to the students with following 

1.       The candidate should demonstrate the need of financial support.
2.       The candidate should specialise in the fields mentioned in the list by Cargill.
3.       The candidate should belong to a disadvantaged group with their host country for seeking help and growth in life.

Scholarship Open for International students

The citizens who belong to the five participating countries namely India, Brazil, China, Russia and the United States can apply for the scholar’s program.

INSA JRD-Tata Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries in India

The Indian national science academy (INSA) is offering fellowship programmes for the developing countries in India. The fellowship covers the short term participatory research studies in all the major areas and disciplines of science and technology which include engineering and medicinal studies at the premier institutes of India. The applicants should possess doctorate or the Master’s degree in science or equivalent degree in engineering/medicine and allied disciplines. The applicants should be below the age of 45 years. 

The Indian national science academy is a scientific organisation in India which represent all branches of science and technology, has already started this fellowship with the help of CICS to honour the late JRD Tata, a visionary and a great industrialist. The fellowship is provided to the researchers from other developing countries to extend our infrastructure and scientific support to them. The fellowship is established from an endowment which was received from Sir Dorabji Tata trust which fosters advanced research training of scientists from the developing world promoting south-south cooperation.

 The study subjects for the fellowship range in most of the major disciplines of science and technology which include engineering and medicinal sciences at any of the premier research institutes.

Eligibility criteria

1.       The fellowship is intended for the researchers who belong to the developing countries and tend to have aptitude for research and wish to work for an Indian research laboratory for a maximum period of 3 years.  
2.       The candidate should have doctorate or master’s degree in science or equivalent degree.
3.       The candidate should be less than 45 years of age.
4.       The applicants must have obtained acceptance from the Indian host institution to work for the proposed research under the fellowship programme.
5.       The applicants should have a valid passport. 

 Scholarship Open for International students

Number of awards

The annual fellowships are around 10 being offered to the scientists of developing countries except India. 

Duration of awards

The maximum period of the INSA JRD fellowship is for a period of three months. 

Scholarship coverage

The fellowship covers the scientists with return airfare from their home country to India and vice versa, the boarding and lodging charges near the institutional areas and an amount in Indian currency to cover the day to day expenses.

Selection criteria

The selection occurs due to the recommendations of a committee consisting of eminent scientists.

Dr Goh Keng Swee Scholarships Asia Pacific Students in Singapore

The public service commission is pleased to invite the applications for the undergraduate scholarship at local universities available at Singapore .i.e. National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Management University (SMU), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) , and Singapore University of Technology and design (SUTD) in Singapore. The students from the Asia Pacific region are eligible for the scholarship provided to the undergraduate programmes. The scholarship covers the benefits of tuition fees, all the other compulsory fees, annual maintenance fees, hostel allowance, and settling-in allowance. The applications are to be sent before the deadline mentioned in the official website. 

The Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) scholarship is a scholarship provided by the association of banks in Singapore (ABS). Each year, there are around three to four scholarships provided to the students from fifteen economies of Asia pacific region (India, Indonesia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Laos and Myanmar). The Dr GKS scholarship was set up by the financial community to commemorate the former deputy Prime minister, who had fostered social and economic development and growth as a reputable international financial tester.  
Study subjects

The scholarships are provided to study and learn any of the courses at the NUS (National University of Singapore), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore University of technology and design (SUTD) and Singapore Management University in Singapore. The scholarship is offered for the students to take part in the undergraduate courses available in the local universities in Singapore.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the below eligibility criteria.

1.       The candidate should have applied to the admissions at NUS, NTU, SMU or SUTD. All the courses can be applied except courses like medicine.
2.       The candidate should showcase different skills, leadership qualities and possess good academic score.
3.       The candidate should or will be attending the test of SAT 1. 

Scholarship is applicable to

The scholarship is applicable to the students from the fifteen economies of the Asia Pacific region namely India, Indonesia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Laos and Myanmar. The Dr GKS scholarship is not applicable to the citizens of Singapore and PRs (Permanent residents) of Singapore.

Number of awards

The scholarships are offered to three to four outstanding candidates from the 15 Asia Pacific regions. 

Duration of awards

The scholarship is given for the 4 years of undergraduate study (including Honors) at the local universities of Singapore. 

Scholarship amount

The scholarship covers the following

1.       Tuition fees
2.       To and fro Airfare
3.       Annual maintenance cost of SGD6500.
4.       Hostel allowance
5.       Settling in allowance (SGD200) upon the arrival at Singapore. 

Notification

The students will be notified by the month of May, every year.
