The IGCAR (Indira Gandhi Centre of Atomic
Research) is a pioneer research institution in multi-disciplinary research,
primarily dedicated to the development of fast reactor technology which
requires intense multi-disciplinary research.
Scholarship
details
The IGCAR is known to empower students and
young motivated scholars to contribute to the path-breaking technologies and
discoveries in frontier areas of engineering/scientific research and cutting edge
technologies with the offering of junior research fellowships. The applications
are invited from the candidates who are motivated, and interested in taking up
research as a career. The applications are for the award of the junior research
fellowship of the department of atomic energy which is at the centre.
Number
of JRF positions
The number of fellowships awarded per year
is around 80 junior research fellowships. The number is indicative in nature. The
IGCAR provides research opportunities in the areas of chemical, engineering, physical,
informational and environmental sciences. The scholarship amount (stipend)
provided to the candidate per month is 16,000 per month.
Eligibility
Criteria for the fellowship
The eligibility criteria for the above
mentioned scholarship is given below. There are two categories for which the
eligibility criteria is given.
1.
The candidates under the category-A
(those who have finished M.Tech/M.Sc/ M.LIS) should have a minimum score of 60%
from a recognised university in one of the following streams.
Physics
Chemistry
Information Science
The candidate should have
a minimum score of 60 percentage at both graduation and post graduation level.
2.
The candidates under the
category-B (those who have finished B.Tech, B.E, B.Sc(Engg), B.Sc (Tech) )from
a recognised university. The candidate should have a minimum score of 60% marks
in one of the following disciplines.
Computer science,
metallurgical engineering, Materials engineering, Materials technology,
electronics and communication, nuclear technology, nuclear science, Atmospheric
science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Metallurgical
engineering are some of the disciplines the candidates are eligible to apply.

of Research
The candidates who are interested in the
above mentioned fellowship can have the below mentioned areas of research for
the fellowship.
Some of the key areas of research are
Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Material
Physics , Engineering Sciences are a few research specialities available for
the scholars to choose from.
How
to apply
The candidates can download the application
form from the official website of the IGCAR www.igcar.gov.in.
Along with the application form, the candidate should also send the downloaded
hall ticket form along with the application form.
The candidates can send the application
form and the hall ticket by post or by registered post along with the required
certificates and enclosures on or before the 21st December, 2014.
The application is to be sent to the Assistant
Administrative Officer, Recruitment Section, Indira Gandhi centre of Atomic
Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam- 603102. Also, the envelope should be super-scribed
with the following ”JRF, Advt No. 4/2014”.
