Award of Biotechnology Overseas Associate-ship for Indian Citizens
Introduction
to the scholarship
The department of biotechnology (DBT) is
pleased to offer overseas award for the associate-ship. The award is available
for the people who are working in any of the North-eastern states in the
country. The award is offered for the citizens of India for conducting research
in the overseas research laboratories in the various biotechnological
departments.

Ministry of science and technology, Government of India is offering the
scholarships for the citizens of India.
Scholarship
duration
There are two scholarships that are being
awarded to the candidates, i.e. long term and short term scholarships. The long
term scholarship is awarded for the period of one year only and cannot be
extendable. The short term associate-ship is awarded for the period of three
months only. The short term scholarships can be awarded for a period of six
months and can be extended from the three months if justified and a longer
period of duration is necessary and required.

coverage
The scholarship coverage for the award of
the associate-ship is given below. The long term associate are entitled to the monthly
allowance of US$2000 or is equivalent in the country of study. Travel expenses
for the airfare for joining the overseas laboratories and back are given below.
The preparatory allowance for the associate-ship is Rs.12000 which is one time
grant in the scholarship.
The short term allowance for the award of
the associate-ship incudes a monthly allowance of US$2400 or its equivalent in
the country of study. The preparatory allowance of Rs.10000 is given. The cost
of air travel expenses is also covered.
Eligibility
Criteria
The candidate should satisfy the following
eligibility criteria to avail the associate-ship.
1.
The applicant should hold a PhD
degree in the areas of Biotechnology or life sciences or also can be MD in
medicine/ M.Pharm/ M.V.Sc/ M.Tech with 3 years of research experience.
2.
The applicants should hold a
regular/permanent position in Government aided institutions, recognised
research facilities/centres/universities/institutions located in the North
eastern states working continuously for 2 years and should be working actively
in biotechnology or R&D work.
3.
The applications from persons
who are working in temporary positions are not eligible for this position. (Arunachal
Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland and Tripura)
4.
The preference is given to the
permanent residents of the north eastern states of the country.

The application process involves sending in
one hard copy of the application by post as per the format available in the
