Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K, AICTE

The AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) is inviting applications from the candidates of Jammu and Kashmir for the special scholarship scheme (SSS) for the 2014 session in the current academic year. The AICTE is a statutory body under the Ministry of HRD (Human resource development), Government of India.

The special scholarship scheme is only for the Jammu and Kashmir students to pursue the under-graduate programmes in a institute recognised outside the Jammu and Kashmir. The scholarships are thus for the students belonging to the Jammu and Kashmir.



Eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria for the above scholarship are given below.
1.       Domicile of the student – The domicile of the student who is applying for the scholarship should be of Jammu and Kashmir. The scholarship is thus specially made for the J&K students.
2.       The family annual income should be less than 6.0 lakh per annum from all the sources of the family.
3.       The candidate should have passed the 12th or equivalent examination from the recognised state board of Jammu and Kashmir or from the central board affiliated school located in Jammu and Kashmir except NIOS.  

Number of Scholarships
The number of scholarships provided under the scholarship scheme is around 5000. The scholarships are thus many and are helpful for the assisting students in their undergraduate course of study.  

Application Process
The students can apply for the scholarship by registering themselves from June 19th, 2014 to July 3rd 2014 for the online application and document verification. The closing date is on the July 3rd, 2014 at 17.00 hrs. The online applications can be submitted to the facilitation centre which is set up by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Also, the document verification is scheduled to happen at the Facilitation centre set up by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. The candidates are supposed to bring their originals for verification at the facilitation centre and have to submit the hard copy of all the attested documents as stated in support of the application process.
It is a necessity for all the applicants to finish the online application and document verification for the current academic year 2014-15 to be eligible for the SSS scheme.

As said, the documents needed to submit are given below. These are to be attested and submitted while applying for the scholarship.
1.       Std 12th Mark Sheet
2.       Std 10th Mark Sheet
3.       Caste certificate issued by the competent authority.
4.       Family annual income issued by the competent authority.
5.       Domicile certificate
6.       Certificate by CMO for the differently abled students and candidates.


The online application and document verification is done and later the merit list of students comes out after the counselling process. The counselling leads to the selection of the student.  The further details of the scheme.
