Scholarship
details
The applications are invited from the
Indian Council of Historical Research for the post of Junior Research
Fellowship from interested and eligible candidates. The candidates have to take
up the eligibility examination before the post of JRF admission can be
considered suitable for him. The eligibility examination is conducted on 16th
Febraury, 2014 at Guwahati, New Delhi, and Bengaluru.
Duration
of the scholarship
The duration or the term of the fellowship
is for a period of two years. The fellowship may get extended for a maximum of
one year if the research experts committee agrees to the work done by the JRF’s
is satisfactory. The fellowship is extended for one year after the original
term if it finds the candidate’s work more satisfactory which is a special
case.
Number
of fellowships available
The number of junior research fellowships
given under this scheme is about eighty. The JRF positions under this scheme are
about eighty.
Scholarship
amount
The scholarship amount given for the junior
research fellowship position is around 16000 per month with a contingency grant
of 15000 per annum. The scholarship amount given out for all the JRF’s would be
the same for the entire period of two years.
Eligibility
Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the above
mentioned fellowship is given below.
1.
The candidates must have secured
at least 55% of marks in their master’s or in equivalent examination conducted in
universities/institutions recognised by the UGC are all eligible for this
fellowship.
2.
The candidates must have taken
up the Master’s course either in History, Museology, and Archealogy.
3.
The candidates who belong to
the SC/ST/Physically handicapped category can also apply provided they secure a
minimum of 50 % of marks in their master’s or in an equivalent examination.
4.
The candidates who will be
admitted to the PhD degree programme can also apply for the Junior Research Fellowship.
The grant of the fellowship is only provided when the candidate registers
his/her PhD.
Eligibility
examination
The eligibility examination is based on
total marks of 100 for a time period of 3 hours. The questions will be asked
either in English or Hindi.
Important
dates to remember
The online submission of the junior
research fellowship programme at ICHR starts on 21st December, 2014.
The last date for the online submission
falls on 15th January, 2014. The last date for the submission of the print outs
falls on 25th January, 2014 (print out taken out of the application
form)
