Junior Research Fellowship for Anti-malarial Drug Discovery Project on Marine Organisms at ICGEB, India

Scholarship details

The International Centre for genetic engineering and biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi is inviting applications from the eligible candidates for the junior research fellowship for anti-malarial drug discovery on Marine organisms. The candidates who are NET/GAT qualified are eligible for the above mentioned fellowship. Also, the candidates who have good academic credentials in Chromatography, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Microscopy, Spectroscopy, drug discovery are only need to apply.

The ICGEB is an international, non-profit organization having around 60 member states. This centre has dedicated itself to the advanced research and training in the molecular biology and the biotechnology in India. 


 It mainly focuses on biomedicine, environmental protection/remediation, crop improvement, biopharmaceuticals, bio-pesticide production. It consists of around 400 people from 38 different member countries are currently working in the ICGEB research laboratories as scientists, postdoctoral fellows, research technicians, PhD students, administrative personnel etc. Initially it started out as a special project by the UNIDO and became fully autonomous in 1994.

The candidates are required to submit the application for the junior research fellowship before the closing date of 10th April, 2014.

Scholarship Provider

The scholarship is being provided to the candidates by the International Centre for genetic engineering and biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the following eligibility criteria to avail the above mentioned fellowship.

1.       The candidates should be applying to the scholarship only if they are NET/GATE qualified.
2.       The candidates who have good academic score and have diligent habits of documentation and aptitude for the drug discovery.
3.       The candidates should have good credentials in Microbiology, chromatography, spectroscopy, molecular biology and cell biology.

Study subjects

The study subjects are for the fellowship given by the ICGEB, New Delhi, India. The Fellowship is available for DBT sponsored project which is anti-malarial drug Discovery Project on “Discovering Anti-malarials From Marine Organisms (phase III): Bulk Recollection of Promising Marine Organisms – Isolation, Purification, Characterization and Chemical Synthesis of Marine Derived Anti-malarials”.

Course level

The course level is for the research position of JRF to undertake the research project at ICGEB, New Delhi, India.

Scholarship Open for the International students

The scholarship is open for the Indian candidates for the junior research fellowship.

Number of awards

Only on junior research fellowship is awarded under the above mentioned scheme.
