The applications are invited from the
candidates for the fully funded Postgraduate scholarships at University of
Dundee which leads to Masters of laws (LLM) in mineral law and policy.
Scholarship
study subjects
The scholarship is exclusively offered for
studying the Master of Laws (LLM) in Mineral Law and Policy programme.
Eligibility
criteria
The candidate applying for the scholarship
is eligible if he/she satisfies the below given criteria.
1.
The candidate should already be
holding a degree of good equivalent standard or a degree to which at least a
good UK upper class honours degree.
2.
The candidate should be able to
demonstrate a high level of English language ( a minimum score of 6.5 or no
less than 6.0 in IELTS)
3.
The candidate should be able to
display good leadership skills and intellectual ability.
4.
The employees and the relatives
of the employee of Rio Tinto plc and the University of Dundee are not eligible
to apply for the scholarship.
5.
The candidates who have
preferably some work experience in mining in the government, private sector, or
academia.
6.
The candidates should have a
track record of rising to the potential of influence.
7.
The candidates mentioned in the
below countries are eligible for the application and can go on to complete the
degree within 12 months and return back to the country at the end of their
fellowship programme.
Scholarship
Open for the International candidates
The scholarship is open for the students of
the countries such as Algeria, Brazil, Cameroon, Chile, China, Zambia,
Kazhakstan, Laos, Botswana, Gabon, Guinea, India, Indonesia, Namibia, new
guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, Madagascar, Serbia, South Africa, Uzbekistan,
Gabon, Mongolia, Mozambique are some of the members countries whose students
are eligible for the scholarship.
Number
of Scholarships
The number of scholarship awards per year
is a maximum of around six fully funded postgraduate scholarships.
Duration
of scholarships
The duration of the scholarship is for a
period of twelve months (1 year).
Selection
criteria
The selection criteria are based on the
candidate’s personal statement and his/her motivation for a career to the
position of leadership in mining sector.
How
to apply
The application form is not separate for
the Rio Tinto programme scholarship. The candidates who apply for LLM post
graduate degree in Mineral law and policy programme and have obtained an
unconditional offer of admission can submit the 250 word length personal
statement. The email can be sent as an attachment to the k.a.shortt@dundee.ac.uk.
Last
date for the scholarship application to be submitted
The submission of the application has to be
done on or before the last date of 30th April, 2015 for the
commencement of study in September 2015.
