details
The Asian women In Business (AWIB), founded
in 1995,is the only non-profit organisation, tax-exempt organisation in the country
which aims to assist the Asian women entrepreneurs. Over the past few years, the organisation has
developed in many sectors. It has started to grow its horizons by helping the
Asian Americans. The AWIB scholarship has committed itself to assist the Asian
women, encouraging and promoting these exceptional business entrepreneurs who
have demonstrated leadership, community service or entrepreneurship.
Eligibility
criteria
The candidate has to satisfy the
eligibility criteria to avail the scholarship. The scholarship’s minimum
eligibility criteria are not enough for the candidate to avail the
scholarships. There are many other factors to be considered for the
scholarship.
1.
The AWIB follows the ancestry
according to the U.S Census. The candidate must trace her ancestry from one of
the following regions such as Asia, Pacifica islander ancestry (Bangladesh,
Japan, Korea, Bhutan, India, China, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal,
Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam
etc)

At the time of application or
during the award, the candidate has to be enrolled in a 4 year accredited U.S under
graduate study programme at the U.S.
3.
The candidate should have a
minimum of 3.0 CGPA during the time of application.
4.
U.S citizen or the permanent
resident of the U.S.
5.
The candidate should provide
the most recent college transcript receipts. All the semi-finalists will be
asked to provide these receipts.
6.
The candidate should have the
following a) a good record of entrepreneurial achievement (found and running
your own business) and b) the candidate should have a leadership role in a
community endeavour.
The scholarship is eligible to the
candidates who are Part-Asian tracing their ancestry and meting all the other
eligibility criteria.
Scholarship
provider
The scholarship is funded by the corporate
donors and generous individuals. The scholarships are provided are fully tax
deductible under the scheme of IRS Section 501(C)(3). Each of the scholarships
awarded are worth $2500. The donors are BNY Mellon, Enterprise holdings, PNC
bank and many other generous donors and individuals.

amount
The scholarships awarded are worth $2500.
An extra grant of $2500 is granted to the women who are in financial need.
Notification
The winners of the scholarships are
notified by the mid of November. The names will be posted on the website on www.awib.org. The AWIB conducts the interviews
for the finalists and the semi-finalists at its own discretion.
