Dr Goh Keng Swee Scholarships Asia Pacific Students in Singapore

The public service commission is pleased to invite the applications for the undergraduate scholarship at local universities available at Singapore .i.e. National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Management University (SMU), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) , and Singapore University of Technology and design (SUTD) in Singapore. The students from the Asia Pacific region are eligible for the scholarship provided to the undergraduate programmes. The scholarship covers the benefits of tuition fees, all the other compulsory fees, annual maintenance fees, hostel allowance, and settling-in allowance. The applications are to be sent before the deadline mentioned in the official website. 

The Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) scholarship is a scholarship provided by the association of banks in Singapore (ABS). Each year, there are around three to four scholarships provided to the students from fifteen economies of Asia pacific region (India, Indonesia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Laos and Myanmar). The Dr GKS scholarship was set up by the financial community to commemorate the former deputy Prime minister, who had fostered social and economic development and growth as a reputable international financial tester.  
Study subjects

The scholarships are provided to study and learn any of the courses at the NUS (National University of Singapore), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore University of technology and design (SUTD) and Singapore Management University in Singapore. The scholarship is offered for the students to take part in the undergraduate courses available in the local universities in Singapore.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the below eligibility criteria.

1.       The candidate should have applied to the admissions at NUS, NTU, SMU or SUTD. All the courses can be applied except courses like medicine.
2.       The candidate should showcase different skills, leadership qualities and possess good academic score.
3.       The candidate should or will be attending the test of SAT 1. 

Scholarship is applicable to

The scholarship is applicable to the students from the fifteen economies of the Asia Pacific region namely India, Indonesia, Philippines, PRC, Taiwan, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Laos and Myanmar. The Dr GKS scholarship is not applicable to the citizens of Singapore and PRs (Permanent residents) of Singapore.

Number of awards

The scholarships are offered to three to four outstanding candidates from the 15 Asia Pacific regions. 

Duration of awards

The scholarship is given for the 4 years of undergraduate study (including Honors) at the local universities of Singapore. 

Scholarship amount

The scholarship covers the following

1.       Tuition fees
2.       To and fro Airfare
3.       Annual maintenance cost of SGD6500.
4.       Hostel allowance
5.       Settling in allowance (SGD200) upon the arrival at Singapore. 

Notification

The students will be notified by the month of May, every year.
