IRRAD Doctoral/Postdoctoral Fellowships in India

The Institute of Rural Research and
Development (IRRAD) is pleased to invite applications for the research fellowships
from the Indian doctoral/postdoctoral candidates to work on the rural
development projects in the selected districts of India. The districts of India
include Mewat district of Haryana and Alwar district of Rajasthan. The fellowship is spanned for a period of six
months to be taken up by the research fellow at a single stretch period from
January to June. It may be extended till the month of December if it can be
extended. The fellowship is provided with a total grant of INR 1,80,000 with
additional facilities of accommodation, local transportation and support of
field staff work.
Study
subjects
The fellowship is awarded to the eligible candidates
to work on the rural development projects. Interested and motivated candidates must
submit a research proposal on any of the following research criteria or themes.
1.
Influence of charging agronomy
on economy of crops such as wheat and mustard in the semi-arid regions of
India.
2.
Understanding the changing gender
roles through various interfaces of rural development.
3.
Enhancing the community
participation through capacity building.
4.
Comparative research study of
the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) policies in Haryana and Rajasthan.
5.
Comparative research study of
the performance of water management institutions in the semi-arid regions of India.
6.
Facilitators and impediments in
capturing gender disaggregated data for water, sanitation, and hygiene in
India.
Course
level
The fellowship is provided to the
doctoral/post doctoral candidates in the selected districts of India including
the Alwar district of Rajasthan and Mewat district of Haryana.

Eligibility
criteria
Interested candidates need to provide a
research proposal on any of the available research themes mentioned above. The
research proposal should describe the need of the proposal study, objective,
literary review, research questions, methodology and the scope of the study. The
scholarship is open for Indian nationals alone. The research proposal should
not exceed 2500 words. The applicant should be a full time researcher or can be
a PhD candidate.
Duration
of awards
The fellowship is scheduled for a period of
six months and can be taken up at a single stretch by the candidate from the
month of January to June of the academic year. It may also get extended till
the end of December.
Scholarship
coverage
The fellowship is provided with a total grant
of INR 1,80,000/-. The additional aids such as residential accommodation, field
staff support and local transportation will be provided in case there is a
necessity of primary data collection in intervention areas of IRRAD.
