The International centre for Genetic engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) of the Open University, UK is inviting applications for the postdoctoral fellowships at the ICGEB laboratories located in Treiste and Monterotondo (Italy), New Delhi (India), Cape Town (South Africa). The applicants must be nationals of an ICGEB member state and may not apply for fellowships to be undertaken in the country of their origin. 

The Italian/Indian/South African nationals who are residents abroad may apply to fellowships to ICGEB Trieste/New Delhi/Cape Town respectively and must give evidence that they are working/living abroad.  
  
Study subjects

The study subjects for the ICGEB postdoctoral fellowships include the below: Cellular Immunology, Human Molecular Genetics, Bacteriology and Plant Bacteriology, Biosafety, Biotechnology Development, Cellular Immunology, Human Molecular Genetics, Molecular Hematology, Molecular Immunology, Molecular Medicine, Molecular Pathology, Molecular Virology, Mouse Molecular Genetics, Neurobiology, Protein Networks, Protein Structure and Bioinformatics Research Interests, Tumour Virology and Yeast Molecular Genetics. ICGEB fields of research at ICGEB New Delhi: Mammalian Biology: Immunology, Malaria, Recombinant Gene Products, Structural and Computational Biology and Virology, Plant Biology: Insect Resistance, Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Transformation and Synthetic Biology and Bio-fuels.  

Scholarship Provider

The provider of the scholarship is International centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) laboratories of the Open University, United Kingdom.  

Scholarship can be taken in

Italy, India and South Africa.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the eligibility criteria to avail the above mentioned scholarship. 

1.       The applicants should be recently pursued the PhD or have at least 3 years of experience.
2.       The preference is given to the candidates who are below the age of 35 years.
3.       The applicants must be nationals of India/Italy/South Africa and must be living abroad or working abroad.

Duration of awards

The duration of the fellowship award is for the period of two years.  

Scholarship coverage

The stipend is provided to cover the living costs of the normal living expenses for one person at the location of the individual state. Travel costs to and fro from the host country and the medical health insurance cover will also be provided.

The application forms which are completely finished should be sent to the ICGEB Liason Officer in the applicant’s country of origin for endorsement.
