Arturo Falaschi ICGEB Predoctoral Fellowships and International PhD Programme

Scholarship details

 

The International centre for genetic engineering and biotechnology (ICGEB) of the Open University is pleased to invite Pre-doctoral fellowships and the international PhD programmes in life sciences in life sciences at ICGEB, Treiste in Italy, ICGEB New Delhi (Jawaharlal Nehru University) India and ICGEB Cape town (University of Cape Town), Cape Town in South Africa. The fellowships are for a period of three years. 

The Arturo fellowships are offering major fellowships and small fellowships for short term to assist the students and scientists with training required for the fellowships. 

Study subjects

ICGEB is offering postgraduate studies with the aim of obtaining the ‘Doctor Philosophie’ degree in Life sciences (PhD) degree in Life sciences at ICGEB Trieste in Italy, ICGEB New Delhi in India, ICGEB Cape Town in South Africa.

PhD degree programmes and Pre-doctoral degree programmes.

Scholarship can be taken in

Italy, India and South Africa (Indian and South African nationals are not eligible to apply for the New Delhi and Cape Town respectively.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the below eligibility criteria to avail the fellowship.

1.       The candidate if applying for the ICGEB Trieste should have a B.Sc (Honours) degree.

2.       The candidate if applying for the ICGEB New Delhi should have an M.Sc degree.

3.       The candidate if applying for the ICGEB cape Town should have a B.S degree. 

Scholarship Open for International students

The students of the following regions are eligible to apply for the fellowships. These regions are ICGEB member state.  

Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burundi, Cameroon, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Eritrea, Hungary, India, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Libya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Montenegro,  Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Poland, FYR Macedonia, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Republic of Tanzania, Uruguay, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of) and Vietnam.

Duration of awards

The fellowships are for a period of three years. 

Scholarship coverage

The stipends are provided to cover the costs of normal living costs for the holder at the location studying for the programme. Travel fares to and fro from the host country, medical health insurance coverage, accommodation services are also provided.  

How to apply

The complete application forms from different nationals of ICGEB member state should be sent to the ICGEB liaison officer in the country of the origin. The following documents need to be present.

1.       Curriculum vitae.

2.       English language proficiency certificate.

3.        Three letters of recommendation.

4.       Proposed research project.

5.       Transcripts and certificates.
