The Tagore centre for global thought at the King’s India Institute is pleased to invite applications for the fully funded PhD studentships research visit in United Kingdom. The Indian researchers must possess an unconditional offer of admission to the PhD programme at the King’s India institute and should have already registered for a full time PhD programme in a recognised Indian University. The scholarship covers the full tuition fees, a subsistence grant and research materials allowance. The research visit will cover the travel expenses, accommodation for the next 3 months and a subsistence allowance. 

All the applications have to be submitted by the deadline electronically.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the following eligibility criteria to avail the scholarship.

For PhD studentships: the applicants may be residents anywhere in the world, but should be Indian citizens and should have an intention to return back to India to pursue the careers in higher education or research upon successful completion of their PhD. 

For Research visit studentships: the applicants should be Indian citizens and may be interviewed during the selection process.

The Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the scholarship. 

Number of awards

There are two fully funded PhD studentships each for duration of three years. There are two PhD visiting studentships tenable each to be spent at the King’s India Institute, London, United Kingdom.  

Duration of awards

The duration for the scholarship is given below. 

For PhD studentships- the two fully funded scholarships each are tenable for three years. The applicants for these scholarships must have an unconditional offer of admission to the PhD programme at the King’s Institute of College, London, United Kingdom.

For research visit – the Two PhD visiting scholarships are provided which are tenable for one semester each to be spent at the King’s India Institute, king’s college, London.  

Scholarship coverage

The PhD studentships will cover the full tuition fees, a subsistent grant, and all the required research materials allowance. The research visit requires the scholarship to cover the travel expenses, accommodation for three months and a subsistence allowance.  

Selection criteria

The candidates will be interviewed on the basis of their interview performance.
