Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research in India

Scholarship details

 

The confederation of Indian industry and Science and Engineering research board, Government of India jointly are offering 100 Prime minister Fellowships each year under the PPP mode. The duration of the fellowship will be a maximum of 4 years leading to awarding of PhD degree. The fellowship amount is of Rs. 600000 per annum on a single candidate. The 50% of the fund amount is provided by the Government and the 50% of the fund amount is provided by the sponsoring industry. The applications have to be submitted before the deadline. 

Study subjects

The areas of study and research should be in science, technology, Engineering, Agriculture or medicine.  

Course level

The fellowships are available for pursuing the PhD position of research in any recognised Indian University or institution or research laboratory of India.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate has to satisfy the following eligibility criteria. 

1.       The candidate doctoral fellow and one industry will apply together jointly. The doctoral fellow needs to finish the application form.

2.        The areas of research are in science, technology, engineering and agriculture and medicine.

3.       The topic in interest should have relevance with practical experience and industrial exposure and implementation.

4.       The selected candidate doctoral fellow should be willing to work with the industry.

5.       The duration of the research should not be more than four years which should lead to the PhD degree.   

Scholarship applicable to 

The applicants of India can only apply to this scholarship. 

Number of awards

Under the scheme, up to 100 research projects will be supported for the fiscal year.

The duration of the programme is for four years. 

Scholarship coverage

Under the scheme, the scholarship is given to the candidates aspiring to have PhD, up to the maximum of 600000 per annum. The scholarship grant in which about 50% is given by the confederation of Indian industry and science and engineering research board and the 50% is given by the sponsoring body for doing research for four years which will fetch the candidate with PhD degree. 

Selection criteria

The selection criteria for the scholarship are given below.

1.       The project should be innovative and high scientific merit.

2.       The proposed research should have a high potential to translate into business opportunity

3.       High credibility and capacity of doctoral fellow

4.       High degree of business interest, collaboration and involvement of industry.   

Notification

The candidates will be announced about the results by the month of January or February.
